05 December 2017: A Last Look
With everything moved to the new apartment, I survey the place I called home for three years. I came unto my own here. I bought a bicycle and extended my range, going where I needed or wanted to go when I needed or wanted to go there. I made my name official. I planned and executed an excursion to see the total solar eclipse of 21 August 2017. I learned to like being alone. Even with the crumbling walls, the black mold, and the holes in the floor, I would happily live here for at least a few more years, but I cannot; I am not allowed to. This is my home no longer. The place is empty now; the sound of my voice echoes from its walls. All that is left is hooks, some wire, and my tears drying on the floor.
